Privacy Policy

PathMark is designed so your reading library remains under your control. Extension data is processed and stored locally in your browser and is not sent to PathMark's developer or third parties.

Effective date: August 12, 2026 · Applies to the PathMark browser extension and website.

1. Data PathMark handles

When you use the extension, PathMark may handle the URL and title of the current browser tab, the time you save or open an item, and information you enter, such as notes, tags, collections, reading state, sites, and endpoint rules. PathMark does not read page body content, passwords, form entries, cookies, or full browser history.

2. Why this data is used

The information is used only to provide PathMark's user-facing reading-library features: recognizing whether the current page has been saved, suggesting a site, preserving a stable resource identity when domains change, organizing items, and updating the toolbar icon to reflect reading state.

3. Local storage and retention

Extension data is stored in IndexedDB inside your browser profile. PathMark has no account system or cloud synchronization service. Data remains on your device until you delete an item, clear the library, remove the extension or browser profile, or replace the data through an import. You can export a JSON backup at any time.

4. Transmission and sharing

The extension does not transmit your saved URLs, titles, notes, tags, collections, reading states, or site configuration to the developer, analytics providers, advertisers, or other third parties. It contains no advertising, tracking SDK, telemetry, or remote code. The public website is static and does not accept extension data.

5. Sale and prohibited uses

PathMark does not sell user data and does not use it for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose. Any use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

6. Your controls

  • Edit or delete individual saved items.
  • Export your complete library as JSON.
  • Clear all local business data from PathMark settings.
  • Remove the extension to stop all future processing.

7. Permissions

PathMark uses the tabs permission to read a tab's URL and title when needed to recognize saved pages and keep the toolbar icon in sync with the active page. This information is evaluated locally and is not used to read page content or sent elsewhere.

8. Changes and contact

If PathMark's data practices materially change, this policy and the extension's disclosures will be updated before the new behavior is released. Questions and privacy requests can be submitted through the project's GitHub issue tracker.
